The American Music Therapy Association's mission is to advance public awareness of the benefits of music therapy and to increase access to quality music services in a rapidly changing world.

World Federation of Music Therapy
The only international organization dedicated to the development and promotion of music therapy world wide. The WFMT acts to promote the exchange of information on music therapy, hold international congresses, identify similarities and distinguishing features of the theory and practice of music therapy throughout the world, promote international cooperation among music therapy associations, music therapists and other related professional groups, and promote all aspects of research in music therapy.
The WFMT holds conferences every three years. The next uncoming one will be held July 22-26, 2008, at the National University of Buenos Aires.

There are a variety of products to be purchased that are under the category of music therapy. These include:
CDs- CDs like "The Healing Power of Music"-relaxation and meditation allows people to relax and be relieved of stress.
CD-Roms-CD-Roms are used are used in the music therapy profession to journals, articles, mp3s, and other information that would be useful to those who pursue a career in music therapy.
DVDs- DVDs can be used to help with those entering the profession of music therapy, or as an actual music therapy tool itself.
Journals- Journals are used to keep up on the latest research done within the music therapy field.
Merchandise- The American Music Therapy Association sells merchandise through their website. They sells I Love Music Therapy Teddy Bears, key chains, and pens.
